Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years as a system of treating disease and relieving pain using fine needles inserted into specific points on the body. Acupuncture stimulates the body to produce its own pain relieving chemicals called endorphins. The improved energy and pain relief produced by acupuncture stimulates the body's own natural healing abilities.
The World Health Organization has recognized acupuncture as a vitally important part of medicine. All of our physiotherapists at Wellington Physiotherapy Associates have completed post-graduate training in acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI) and are trained to incorporate acupuncture into treatment as indicated.
Acupuncture is very effective in treating a variety of painful disorders such as:
- - Back pain
- - Neck Pain
- - Muscle tightness
- - Shin splints
- - Tennis Elbow or Golfer's Elbow (Epicondylitis)
- - Rotator cuff tendonitis
- - Many others.
